Finally getting around to posting the million and 1 photos I took of a trip that will go down in the books. New York will always have my heart! So many incredible moments and memories made on this trip!
We ate way too much food, took way too many pictures, stayed up way too late, had so many funny moments, met so many cool people, and lived up every single moment to the absolute fullest.
1st day: exploring Bushwick and our abode in Brooklyn (such a cool up and coming neighborhood with so much color, life, and vibrancy). Hitting the streets and seeing all the rad graffiti was one of my favorite parts of the day. Mike felt like he was in his element.
We ❤️ Brooklyn!
Finishing the night with the best pizza π and such a cool vibe @Robertas in Brooklyn (bee sting pizza—swirl of honey with a hint of spice and pepperoni bread), then off to Soft Swerve π¦— Ube Purple Yam & Kabocha swirl (I may just crave it the rest of my life)
The only way to go when you’re in the city. I think we took about 40 subways in 4 days....πthe subway #nyc #nysubway #nycvibes #moncurfab4adventures #blackandwhitephotography #photography #cityvibes
We may or may not have hit up all the ice cream bars in the city π¦π»@chachamatcha #softserve #nyceats #nyc #nycvibes #nycdessert#moncurfab4adventures #bigapple #cityvibes #nomnom
Not only did @tacombi have the dopest decor but the street tacos were off the charts ; definitely a must eat if in the city #tacombinyc #bigapple #nycvibes #nycfood #nyceats #mexican #streettacos #tacos #moncurfab4adventures
I seriously can’t believe I never walked this bridge when I lived here—a first for me in this beautiful city. Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve done here! We walked it during the day and at night—the views of Manhattan and Brooklyn are unprecedented ππ #brooklynbridge #iconic #nyc #nycvibes #cityvibes #moncurfab4adventures #blackandwhite #photography #cityshots
We all know Mike is the artist in the family; when I saw this I had to surprise him: a graffiti class in Brooklyn. By far one of the coolest things we’ve done; he still says it was one of his favorite parts of the trip. We got to meet this doll of a girl who is from India and now lives in Brooklyn. Leaf was so talented and helped give some great tips to enhance Mikes piece. The perfection in him wished that I would have prepped him so he could have come up with “a cooler piece” but there’s always next time π. It was also so cool to have Leaf explain how graffiti got started in the Bronx—it truly was an outlet for so many young teens who had nothing; it truly is an art form. So honored to learn from some of the best local graffiti artists ππ». Now our plan is to get a house and have an entire basement full of some insanely creative tags ✌πΌ #addingcolortothestreets
Day 2: lots of subway rides hitting up amazing food dives all around the city (we go where the food is π, doesn’t matter the distance). Starting the day off right with authentic NY bagels (no better bagel on the planet) at Knickerbocker Bagel in Brooklyn. Salt bagel with white fish—I used to eat this every week when I lived in Dobbs Ferry and I’ve been deprived of it ever since. I officially ruined mikes life forever when he took his first bite. He loved it so much that we nearly missed our flight coming home because we had to jump a train to Knickerbocker bagels ones last time before leaving the city π.
Spent the rest of the day exploring most of midtown; had an awesome photo shoot with the talented Shamim, then taking advantage of the night life this incredible city has to offer: Times Square + Grand Central. This is truly the city that never sleeps.
And it wouldn’t be a trip to NY without riding up to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building and reminiscing about Mike proposing to me in this same spot 10 years ago ❤️ π. Has it really been that long?? Always such breathtaking views of the city!
Lots of kissing going down outside the most iconic building not only in the city but in our lives....she said “yes!” ππ
I love the new observatory and all of the old black and white, iconic pics of this building especially seeing how it was all constructed—simply amazing for that day and age!! Had to include a pic from one of my favorite Carrie Grant movies: An Affair to Remember ππ (I’m still such a sucker for all things romantic)
So I asked the workers if anyone had ever attempted to jump from the Empire State and they told me they weren’t supposed to mention it but to look up “the most beautiful suicide” and I could read all about it. Interesting that they called it that back in the day. Even more interesting that she landed perfectly like this π€....just a little bit of Empire history. Oh and this was before they built the barriers to protect you while you are up there (the only reason they built them is because of so many attempted jumps—yikes)! Can you imagine falling from that height!?? Wowzas—makes my palms sweat π¬
Love is in the air ππ. Happy 10 years babe!
Then as a tradition of ours, dessert at one of our most favorite eclectic restaurants in the city: Serendipity. Best. Day. Ever.Where we celebrated our proposal; this is my kinda place: quirky, weird, eclectic, and incredibly oversized desserts π. We love you Serendipity!
I have to give a shout out to this mouthwatering, AMAZING restaurant: Burgers and Lobster. There are thousands of insanely yummy places to eat in this city but this place has to be at the top of that list. I don’t think I’ve ever had a burger or lobster roll like this. Hands down to the chef! And the service was impeccable!
Eating bagels while getting ready with no kids = luxury living π #metime#nyc #moncurfab4adventures #nycvibes
There are two buildings in NY that are by far my favorite: Grand Central Station and The NY Public Library. Not only is the architecture incredible but they hold so many happy memories for me. I remember moving to this city when I was 19—all by myself. I remember my parents thinking I was crazy. I remember the first weekend here I jumped in my car and found my way (no iPhone, no google maps mind you π just a good ol atlas and some intuition) from the Hudson all the way to Lincoln tunnel. I remember it was around 10pm at night; some thing inside was like “are you crazy??? You don’t even know where you are going! You don’t even know this city!” But my adventurous heart kept driving. I remember being scared s*%!less while having the biggest smile on my face. I remember seeing the NYC skyline out the passenger side of my window and that was it—that sealed the deal; I left my heart in that city.
I remember taking the subway every weekend into Grand Central—walking through the market, grabbing some snacks to take to Central Park. I’d stop at Origins to pick up my favorite perfume: Spring Fever. π Then shop on 34th street, before heading uptown to spend the day in Central Park with a pen, a journal, a book, and a blanket. I’d sit and get lost in my thoughts and write forever.
Felt so good to be back—such wonderful, wonderful memories were made in this grand, beautiful, constellation adorned building.
This was hands down one of my most favorite moments, maybe because it was another first for me, maybe it was because this is such an iconic place, or maybe it was simply because I’m a “fair chaser”—where the fairs go, I go. π We had so much fun riding the rides and walking the colorful boardwalk of Coney. I am in love with this place!! I can’t wait to spend the summer here with the kids at the beach! π‘ #youhavemyheartconey
Love and puke is in the air on the Wonder Wheel π‘π‘ #coneyisland
Little snack at Feltmans—the first hot dog stand! π
π‘
Riding tandem with this guy through Central Park and eating .99 pizza makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon π
Oh if only I had a wall like this in my house ππ #brooklyn #graffiti #art#color #nyc #nycvibes #fashion #style #lookoftheday#moncurfab4adventures
Hittin up midtown: NY Public Library, Rockefeller; eating the yummy street eats (kebob and gyros). Then off to Dylan’s Candy to grab the kids some sweets and back down to Chinatown for the best Crepes eva! ππ#midtown #nyc #rockefeller #dylanscandybar #nyc #nycvibes#moncurfab4adventures #chinatown #radiocity
Treats and eats galore! The kids were in heaven getting their Dylan’s candy boxπ
One of the most romantic spots in the city! City skyline at night from the Brooklyn Bridge—breathtaking!! π€π€ #nobetterviewofmanhattan
Views from the Brooklyn Promenade—spectacular! I could have stayed there all night. This carousel π though ππ. Loved sitting and taking in the glow of the city lights on the water. ✨✨
Mike picked up this random girl and decided to show her the sights of the city π#guesshelikespink
Did someone say candy??? Candy + art + photos = my kinda party ππ. Got tickets the minute I saw that Candytopia π π¬ was in Manhattan—a lot of fun photos, a lot of cool art (all made out of candy) and came home with loads and loads of candy π #candytopia
Funfetti everywhere π—in my pants, in my hair, in my shoes....It even snuck its way into my suitcase π. Loved the pig π· shooting funfetti out of it’s butt
Can I have one of these in my home?? #biggestmarahmallowpitieverdidsee
A stroll through Little Italy—my fav! Stopping for some souvenirs, cannolis, and some bread, cheeses and olives at the oldest cheese shop in America ππ #littleitaly #alleva #downtown
I love the color and the art of this city π
Dinner at our favorite Moroccan restaurant in Nolita
So this was funny....we were trying to find the best last dessert to eat in the city and this waffle dive was callin our name.
Well short story: we read the menu wrong and ordered the Mac daddy of all desserts. The lady making it busted out laughing as she put every topping they had on the waffle (she literally had to glance at the ticket 10 different times to make sure she got everything on it that we requested). She was looking at us like “are guys for real? Ya good luck with that one π”
I about died when I saw the finished product but I have to say we did a pretty darn good job on that $32 dessert (maybe it was the guilt of paying $32 ππ). Hands down one of the best things I’ve ever eaten (the waffles were divinely caramelized and this nut butter they put on top of it was off the charts). And it was a spectacular dessert eating view—right under the Empire State #wedontleavedessertonthetable
Going out with a BANG! This is how you end the trip of all trips: Maroon V + Julia Michaels last concert on their tour @ Madison Square Garden baby!! Epic! Dancing with this guy, seeing Maroon V: Best memory ever!
He killed it! One of the best concerts I’ve been toπ
Yup, he took off his clothes and shoes and threw them into the audience when he was done. Last show of the tour ππ ; so awesome seeing it at the Garden! ✌πΌ
Another epic moment: walking barefoot through manhattan after dancing the night away in my heels π. Best husband award goes to this one who piggiebacked me on the streets of Brooklyn as it started to pour down rain.....these are the moments you never forget π
Meet Vicky, aka Ricky (when it applies π)....approached us for a dollar while waiting for the subway. Most people would have turned the other cheek, but we had the best most hilarious conversation with each other. It seriously was one of the highlights of my trip. Reminded me that we are all interconnected....have a laugh, give a listen, look for commonalities instead of differences. By the end of it he (she) loved me and we became kindred spirits ππ #tillnexttimevicky #noyoucanthavemyman #wegeteachother#humoriseverything #nyc #nycvibes #moncurfab4adventures
Love this wall π€; met some fantastic people on this trip.....signing out before we leave ✌πΌ out Brooklyn #nyc #goodbyesarehard #besttripeva#nycvibes #blackandwhite #brickwall #brooklyn #moncurfab4adventures
Last subway ride to grab our favorite bagels in Brooklyn before catching our Lyft ride out of here. Funny story—almost missed our flight because of our salt bagel with white fish obsession. Subways were delayed, missed our Lyft ride, got delayed picking up another passenger to the airport, got kicked out of security because of our salt bagels and whitefish ππ, had to go through security again after mike hurried and slapped the white fish on the bagels π€¦π»♀️, got kicked out of security a second time because of my Empire Snow Globe π€¦π»♀️π€¦π»♀️, had to run check my bag which they told me would have to go on another flight. Ran through LGA with no shoes, made it just in time. Landed in ATL—stayed the night before flying home to UT. Enjoyed our bagels immensely π.....later that night some dude came waltzing into our hotel room at 3am; mike yelled “hey” (I woke up startled, saw his reflection in our mirror and about crapped my pants); he bolted. Yup, it was an adventurous journey home. Hey, at least the smoothie place was jamming out to Maroon V ππ»ππ» #moncurfab4adventures #whatwedoforagoodbagel#bahaha #totalfoodies #nyc #nycvibes

Amari was so stinkin cute when I picked him up, he just kept saying, “I missed you mommy,” for a whole week! Bahaha love him! Becks just played it cool at school but I could tell he was tearing up. Once he was off school premises he grabbed me tight and told me he missed me so much π#mamashome
Opening their NY souvenirs (the real reason they were happy I was home)
